Sacred Datura

A commonly seen flower in Zion is the sacred datura. Don’t let its beauty fool you. It’s actually poisonous–like a powerful narcotic no less–and should definitely be seen and not touched.

Hi Jeff,
nice Datura shot! I’m a photographer -as well as a web-designer, and have been doing some Black & White studies of Daturas lately. Never tried ingesting one myself, but I hear they were used by aboriginal peoples for spiritual ceremonies.
(ps i like your shots of Bryce Canyon as well – stunning geography there..)

Sacred Datura does not contain a narcotic. It contains scopolamine, an anticholinergic with halucinogenic properties.
