“Welcome to WordPress. This is your first post. Edit or delete it, then start blogging!”
Or so said the WordPress system when I activated it about two hours ago. Following a little complication with some server-related redirection-foo and a lengthy but uneventful importing of the old blog entries, jeffblaylock.com is back on the web. Lots of work remains to be done. I’m sure lots of things didn’t quite transfer right (I’ve already noticed many photo tags are missing.) and I’ve not yet discovered several problems. That said, the site is now powered by WordPress, and I think it’s going to work out just fine.
So I say, “Hello, WordPress!”

Today is the 101st day of the 140-day session of the Texas Legislature. Five months of every odd-numbered year of my life — for the last dozen years — has been dominated by the session. Last Friday, the House was in session until 4 a.m., and our team followed every minute of the discussion. We were not alone — hundreds of staffers and other interested folks burned the midnight oil’s midnight oil at both wicks.
So life lately has revolved around three things: the aforementioned session, CrossFit, and my dog Chisos.
